MSc, PhD Candidate
Marlena is a third-year PhD student in the School and Clinical Child Psychology program at OISE/University of Toronto. She earned her MSc at the University of Toronto where she examined repetitive behaviours across neurodevelopmental disorders under the supervision of Dr. Paul Arnold. Subsequently, she completed her MA in School and Clinical Child Psychology where she examined parenting interventions that address child exposure to domestic violence under the supervision of Dr. Katreena Scott. Marlena is interested in better understanding the association between mental health and physical health, and how children and adolescent’s environments impact this relationship. Her current research is focused on the relationship between depression and early cardiovascular risk factors, and the influence of parent-child relationships. As part of her clinical training, she has completed practicum placements at the Toronto Catholic District School Board and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, and is currently completing a practicum placement at Hamilton Health Sciences in the Child and Youth Mental Health Outpatient Clinic.
Susan C. Campisi, PhD, MHsc
Post-Doctoral Research Fellow
Dr. Susan Campisi joined the Korczak team in 2020 as a post-doctoral research fellow. She received her PhD in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Toronto in 2020. She has held various positions in global health research, marketing, regulatory affairs, and private practice. She also worked on projects at the Center for Global Child Health at the Hospital for Sick Children, for the College of Dietitians of Ontario and the Canadian Foundation for Dietetic Research. Susan’s research area is pediatric nutritional psychiatry focused on child and adolescent depression in Canada and beyond. She has developed expertise in evidence syntheses and studying the impact of diet on depressions among children and adolescents in collaboration with the Korczak team.
